Nordex Group has solidified its footprint in Europe’s wind energy sector, securing orders for 15 projects totaling 414MW across France, Belgium, and Portugal. The contracts, inked at the end of 2025, encompass 78 turbines, including models like the N131/3600, N117/3600, and N163/6.X, with deliveries slated for 2027. Installation hub heights will range from 76 to 134 meters, though specific customer names and wind farm locations remain undisclosed.
These orders underscore Nordex’s growing influence in Europe, particularly in Portugal, where the company has been actively expanding its market share. The inclusion of multi-year service and maintenance agreements in each contract highlights the industry’s shift towards long-term operational reliability and performance optimization.
In a parallel development, Nordex has also secured a significant order from German wind and solar park developer UKA (Umweltgerechte Kraftanlagen). Under an existing framework agreement, UKA ordered 33 N175/6.X turbines, totaling 224.4MW. These turbines, mounted on hybrid towers with a hub height of 179 meters, will be installed across nine wind farms in North Rhine-Westphalia, Brandenburg, and Thuringia. Construction and commissioning are expected to commence in 2027, depending on project locations.
UKA Group managing partner Gernot Gauglitz emphasized the strategic importance of these orders, stating, “In a market environment that has become more challenging, we are making good progress with the realization of our project pipeline. The turbines we use are one of the factors contributing to the profitability of our projects. With this order, UKA has firmly ordered an additional 224MW from our premium partner Nordex.”
Beyond Europe, Nordex made strides in the U.S. market, securing contracts from Alliant Energy to supply wind turbines in Iowa. This development marks a significant boost to the region’s wind energy capacity, further cementing Nordex’s global presence.
These recent orders and projects reflect a broader trend in the wind energy sector: the push towards larger, more efficient turbines and the increasing importance of comprehensive service agreements. As the industry evolves, companies like Nordex are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of wind energy, both in Europe and beyond. The focus on hybrid towers and higher hub heights indicates a drive towards maximizing energy output and efficiency, which could influence future turbine designs and installation practices. Moreover, the emphasis on long-term service agreements suggests a growing recognition of the importance of operational reliability and performance optimization in the wind energy sector.
