Nordex has secured new wind turbine orders totaling 508MW, a move that underscores the company’s growing footprint in the North American market and its commitment to advancing wind energy in cold climate regions. The orders, placed by undisclosed customers, encompass 73 turbines, including the first deployment of Nordex’s N175/6.X turbines in Canada. These turbines, designed for cold climates, will feature Nordex’s Advanced Anti-Icing System to mitigate ice-related downtime during harsh Canadian winters.
The contracts, which include both N163 and N175/6.X turbines, involve supply, installation, and long-term servicing agreements, with deliveries scheduled for 2027 and 2028. This marks a significant milestone for Nordex, as it expands its market presence in Canada and reinforces its position as a key player in the global wind energy sector.
Manav Sharma, CEO of Nordex Group North America, expressed gratitude for the continued trust of customers, highlighting the company’s proven anti-icing technology as a key factor for success in cold climate regions. The introduction of the N175/6.X turbines in Canada is expected to help customers maximize energy production year-round, further reducing the levelized cost of energy.
Nordex’s extensive experience in the wind power sector is evident in its portfolio, with approximately 57GW of wind power capacity installed across more than 40 markets since its inception. The company’s manufacturing network spans Brazil, Germany, India, Mexico, Spain, and the US, focusing on onshore turbines in the 4–7MW classes. These turbines are designed to meet market demands in countries with limited available land and regions facing grid constraints.
The recent contracts from Alliant Energy to supply wind turbines in Iowa, US, further demonstrate Nordex’s commitment to advancing wind energy in diverse geographical locations.
