The European Commission has set the stage for the 20th edition of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), scheduled for 9-11 June 2026. Under the theme ‘A clean, secure and competitive Energy Union’, the event will convene in Brussels and online, bringing together stakeholders to discuss the future of Europe’s energy landscape. This annual gathering, the largest of its kind, focuses on renewables and efficient energy use, aiming to underscore the importance of a secure and resilient Energy Union and the provision of clean, affordable energy.
The EUSEW Policy Conference will feature over 60 sessions, hosted by the clean energy community, delving into dynamic and innovative topics. Beyond policy discussions, the event will include keynote speeches, the EUSEW Awards ceremony, and networking opportunities at the Energy Fair. The fair celebrates individuals, projects, and initiatives driving Europe’s transition to clean and sustainable energy.
In preparation for the conference, the European Commission has opened a call for policy session proposals, inviting industry representatives, policy experts, members of civil society, and academia to contribute their insights. This call, open until 22 January 2026, offers a chance to shape the discussions on clean energy.
EUSEW 2026 will also recognize outstanding contributions in the field of energy efficiency and renewables through the EUSEW Awards. The awards, open for applications until 29 January 2026, will honor individuals and projects in three categories: Local Energy Action, Women in Energy, and, for the first time, SMEs driving Energy Efficiency.
An Info Session, scheduled for 3 December from 11.00 to 12.30 (CET), will provide detailed information about the event theme, milestones, and application requirements. Participants will learn about proposing and hosting a policy session and applying for or nominating someone for the EUSEW Awards. A timeline, Q&A, and the Info Session recording will be available on the EUSEW 2026 info page.
Additional opportunities to participate in EUSEW 2026, such as exhibiting at the Energy Fair, becoming a Young Energy Ambassador, or organizing a local Sustainable Energy Day, will be announced in January and February 2026.
This event could significantly shape the development of the energy sector by fostering collaboration and innovation. The diverse range of participants and topics ensures a comprehensive exploration of current challenges and future opportunities. The inclusion of new categories in the EUSEW Awards, such as SMEs driving Energy Efficiency, highlights the growing recognition of the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in the energy transition. The event’s focus on building a secure and resilient Energy Union is particularly timely, given the current geopolitical climate and the need for energy independence and security. The insights and discussions emerging from EUSEW 2026 could influence policy decisions and industry practices, accelerating the transition to a clean, secure, and competitive energy future.
