Inox Wind, KP Energy Partner for 2.5GW Renewable Push in India

Inox Wind Limited (IWL), a subsidiary of the InoxGFL Group, has inked an exclusive memorandum of understanding (MoU) with KP Energy (KPE) to co-develop 2.5GW of wind and wind-solar hybrid power projects across India. This strategic alliance underscores a significant shift in the renewable energy sector, with major players joining forces to scale up clean energy infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Inox Wind and its subsidiaries will supply wind turbine generators and related equipment, providing comprehensive engineering support. This includes designing unit substations, specifying transformers, and developing foundation designs. The company will also oversee pre-commissioning, commissioning, and operations and maintenance (O&M) of the wind turbine generators. KPE, on the other hand, will manage project development activities, including securing connectivity, land acquisition, and right of way, as well as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) works. KPE will also handle the O&M of the balance of plant for these projects.

Faruk G Patel, founder and MD of KPE, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership. “KPE is committed to advancing large-scale renewable energy infrastructure, and this partnership with INOX marks a significant strategic step in that direction,” Patel said. “By combining KPE’s depth of experience in project development, statutory planning, and balance of-plant execution with IWL’s proven manufacturing and engineering capabilities, we are establishing a robust collaborative platform capable of delivering complex wind and hybrid assets at scale.”

This collaboration is poised to reinforce India’s renewable energy goals, providing a blueprint for future projects. Kailash Tarachandani, CEO Renewables at InoxGFL Group, highlighted the synergy between the two companies. “Inox Wind’s partnership with KP Energy is a collaboration of two renewable industry leaders, capitalising on the strong product, ground-level execution, and project development excellence of the two companies,” Tarachandani noted. “Through this association, we aim to deliver structured, high-quality renewable energy solutions that will reinforce our role in supporting India’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable power generation.”

In a parallel development, Inox Green Energy Services, through its group company Inox Solar, has signed another exclusive MoU with KP Group entity, KPI Green. This agreement aims to jointly develop 2.5GW of solar power projects across various states in India. Under this MoU, KPI will undertake project development activities, while Inox Solar will deliver solar modules and associated equipment, along with pre-commissioning, commissioning, and O&M services.

These strategic alliances come on the heels of Inox Wind securing new wind orders totaling 229MW earlier this month. The collaboration between Inox Wind and KPE, along with the separate agreement between Inox Solar and KPI Green, signals a concerted effort to accelerate India’s renewable energy transition. By leveraging their respective strengths, these partnerships are set to drive innovation, efficiency, and scalability in the renewable energy sector, potentially shaping the future of clean energy in India.
