Polish Study Spotlights Energy Storage’s Pivotal Role in Grid Transformation

A recent study published in the journal *Energies*, titled “Identification of Energy Storage in Distribution Channels,” sheds light on the economic viability and strategic importance of these systems in the ongoing energy transition. Led by Joanna Alicja Dyczkowska from the Faculty of Economic Sciences at Koszalin University of Technology in Poland, the research offers valuable insights into how energy storage facilities are reshaping the supply network system and distribution channels.

The study highlights that energy storage facilities operated by grid companies account for 90% of the installed capacity. However, there is a noticeable surge in prosumer installations, with energy storage capacities of up to 50 KWh at microinstallations. Dyczkowska’s research delves into the economic aspects of energy storage systems, analyzing the dependence on capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operating costs (OPEX).
