Unlike some other flow battery solutions, iron sulfate does not require expensive and polluting “forever-plastics” for containment. The material’s benign nature allows for simpler and cheaper storage tanks, which can even be buried underground. This not only reduces the land footprint but also enhances safety, as iron sulfate poses no vapour risk.
