InfraGuard Framework Fortifies Energy Sector Against Cyber Threats

These pillars encapsulate the essential aspects of situational awareness, active defense, risk management, and incident recovery. “The goal is to provide a comprehensive, multidimensional measurement of resilience that organizations can use to assess and improve their cybersecurity posture,” Lubis explains.

What sets InfraGuard apart is its use of globally standardized maturity models, such as ISO/IEC 15504, NIST CSF, and COBIT, to score cyber resilience on a scale of 0 to 5. This scoring system allows organizations to benchmark their capabilities and track progress over time. “By translating the attributes of resilience into concrete assessment indicators, we aim to facilitate policymaking, investment planning, and global cyber defense collaboration,” Lubis adds.

The framework’s applicability was tested in three diverse settings: power grids, healthcare systems, and airports, each demonstrating varying levels of maturity in resilience. For the energy sector, where critical infrastructure is increasingly targeted by cyber threats, InfraGuard offers a promising tool to evaluate and enhance security measures. As the sector continues to adopt advanced technologies like IoT, the need for robust cyber resilience becomes even more paramount.
